In the end, it is time which fuels any journey and allows a person to travel towards his or her desired destination. Without it, the most sophisticated foundation will falter and fail to produce results; that basis will be reduced to a luxurious car with no fuel - a stagnant resource which makes no progress. |
Up until this point, The Kaizen Effect has mostly focused on foundational topics. The main objective was to first forge a robust, inner framework which not only sustains our dreams but also fuels them and inspires action. For example, significant effort was taken to craft a proper perception of the world - one that always gives more than it takes and is conducive to our goals. Similarly, our intrinsic, personal values were divulged and used to not only forge a life purpose but to also kindle a fire of passion. In doing so, such a foundation has established an inner core which is impervious to the greatest trials and tribulations - a basis which compels us to stick to the journey and guarantee its fulfillment. With such an underlying foundation in place, the next step is to take massive action - to execute the plan and manifest our wildest dreams. This obviously entails finding sufficient time and pouring it into our goals and ambitions. After all, it is time which fuels any journey and allows a person to travel towards his or her desired destination. Without it, the most sophisticated foundation will falter and fail to produce results; that basis will be reduced to a luxurious car with no fuel - a stagnant resource which makes no progress.

For this reason, it is absolutely imperative that everyone learns to respect his or her time and use it as efficiently as possible. One may think that money, personal possessions, and external power are his or her greatest assets in life, but it is time - along with the fruits it bears - which truly serves as our most valuable resource. Much like gold, the inherent value in time arises from two central areas: its intrinsic qualities and the innate scarcity associated with it. Focusing on the first area, the greatest quality of time is its ability to fuel our goals to fruition. As previously mentioned, it is the one sole resource which takes a dream from conception to reality; all goals and plans are futile without it - regardless of their complexity. Similarly, time is the only medication that heals the greatest wounds; it allows us to forgive and forget and ultimately move on. So, along with an extensive list of other qualities, these two attributes alone allow time to shine as a worthwhile asset. However, it is time's intrinsic scarcity which really compels us to appreciate its value. For example, it is literally the rarest resource we all possess; we are all born with a limited quantity and can not generate any more beyond that limit. Of course, maintaining proper health can certainly prolong one's life, but we all ultimately possess an allotted amount - one that no one may cheat. For this reason, it is absolutely essential that we all learn to respect time and use it wisely; it must be perceived and treated as the most valuable resource in life - the asset which fuels our wildest dreams.

Much like gold, time's value arises from two central areas: its intrinsic qualities and the innate scarcity associated with it. It fuels our purpose but is also limited, and the quantity we possess is forever fixed. So, always use it wisely and refrain from disrespecting it; it is your most valuable asset in life. |
Unfortunately, the majority of people throw away their time frivolously, as if it grows plentifully on trees. They unwisely invest it in fruitless activities which perpetuate their unhappiness, instead of providing what they really desire. In the long run, such behavior only leads them further from their dreams; they transform from a sentient being into a leaf blowing in the wind - an entity whose future is dictated by exterior forces. |
Unfortunately, despite its clear value, time is also one of the most neglected resources of history, and such negligence is partially why some of the greatest ideas are never realized. The majority of people throw away their time frivolously, as if it grows plentifully on trees. They unwisely invest it in fruitless activities which perpetuate their unhappiness, instead of providing what they really desire. In the long run, such behavior only leads them further from their dreams; they transform from a sentient being into a leaf blowing in the wind - an entity whose future is dictated by exterior forces. For example, on average, the typical American watches television for approximately 5 hours each day. While good when used moderately, excessively watching television is a somnambulistic activity which stands between you and the fulfillment of your dreams; it effortlessly consumes time and hardly leaves anything practical in its wake. Furthermore, in a given week, this amounts to around 35 + hours of wasted time - an amount equivalent to a typical job's work week. If such time was wisely invested into your purpose, what do you think would be possible; what accomplishments could you invite into your life; how closer would you be to realizing your dreams? When coupled with the many impertinent activities which generally consume our time (social media, video games, movies, etc), this behavior quickly becomes the bane of our lives - a tendency which strives for more yet mostly breeds demise.

So, if you want to get ahead in life, you must first have the standard to not only respect your time but to also use it wisely. Train your mind to only engage in worthwhile activities - those which fuel your purpose and yield value. If your life is currently consumed by activities founded on temporary, instant gratification, then the process of acclimating your mind to only seek enriching endeavors will present many challenges. However, they may be overcome with consistent effort, patience, and unwavering persistence; the mind will always adapt with enough discipline. To fuel such a paradigm shift, the first thing you must do is completely eliminate all unnecessary activities or behavior. This includes watching television, playing video games, indulging in foods devoid of nutrients, wasting time on social media, etc. Refrain from inviting these activities into your life. Further, don't even look at them; they are like Medusa and will literally turn you to stone - preventing you from taking action and realizing your dreams. The more your life is clogged by such activities, the more lethargic you will become, and you will struggle to find time for even the simplest tasks. So, refuse to clog your life by fueling unnecessary activities; instead, strive to eradicate them from your schedule and allow time to flow freely into fruitful endeavors - the activities which you truly wish your life to encompass.

The more your life is clogged by unnecessary activities, the more lethargic you will become, and you will struggle to find time for even the simplest tasks. So, refuse to clog your life by fueling these wasteful activities; instead, strive to eradicate them from your schedule and allow time to flow freely into fruitful endeavors - the activities which you truly wish your life to encompass. The process of re-acclimating your mind to only seek enriching endeavors will surely be a challenging battle. However, the mind will always adapt with enough discipline; all it takes is consistent effort, patience, and unwavering persistence. |

Upon eliminating fruitless activities from your life, the next step is to wisely invest your time into your purpose - to nurture it into the life you wish to lead. If you have properly followed my principles for forging a life purpose, then this process will ultimately place you on an upward spiral. This is due to the fact that your mission in life will be founded upon your values - invigorating ideas spawned from the essence of who you are. So, as you fuel them with time, their ensuing development will further implant you within your purpose; you will kindle a fiery passion that burns brighter with each passing year. This is precisely why I always stress the importance of first cultivating a well-founded purpose; we must all begin with the end in mind. Not only does it encourage you to remain rooted in your goals and ambitions, but it also serves as your first line of defense against time-wasting activities. After all, if you pour your time into activities connected to your values, then any fruitless activity will pale in comparison to your purpose-driven ambitions; they will appear lackluster and lack the brilliance emanating from your journey. As a result, you will be naturally drawn to the activities which allow your dreams to flourish. They will suddenly be perceived as enjoyable activities which enrich your life - not as obligations required to reach a final destination. In this sense, eliminating fruitless activities in favor of fueling your purpose then breeds sustainability. It keeps you focused on tasks aimed at development, and such an investment shields you from useless activities - while fortifying your willpower and determination. In the end, your consciousness will perpetually evolve while your personal boundaries grow with it, and you will begin to embody the qualities you most admire - as your dreams are manifested right under your nose.

So, have the standard to respect your time and wisely invest it in your underlying purpose. Refrain from pouring it into fruitless activities, and never justify your actions with excuses or complaints; such behavior is the worst investment of any time. When it comes down to it, no excuse will ever be good enough, because there's always someone out there who's beating your excuse. There's always a more motivated individual who's honing his/her craft while you procrastinate, running that extra mile when you're wasting time on Facebook, or discovering the next great idea as you lose yourself in front of a television. If you can't find the time, then you can be sure that someone else is jumping through hoops to unconditionally make it, and that incentive alone makes all the difference. Unrivaled discipline will always trump "talent", if underdeveloped. So, if you really want something, you have to find a way to beat your excuses - to focus on your intent lost in a jungle of complaints. Strive to judiciously feed your purpose while suffocating your excuses, and always make the time for fruitful endeavors, even when you fail to initially find the time. If you can master this principle, then there will be no mountain you can't climb; you will become a formidable force, and the life you wish to lead will eventually reside in the palm of your hand.

Once you find a way to make the time, a myriad of doors will open right in front of you, some of which lead to a better life. What you must decide next is which door to walk through, and this entails investing that time in the most appropriate path - one that is aligned with your core purpose and intent. This path directs your time into activities which boost your production capacity. Such activities are like investments in a bank; the more you invest in them, the higher your yields become in future endeavors. |
Once you find a way to make the time, a myriad of doors will open right in front of you, some of which lead to a better life. What you must decide next is which door to walk through, and this entails investing that time in the most appropriate path - one that is aligned with your core purpose and intent. Unfortunately, with so many exterior forces competing for your time, this can be quite a daunting task; so, let's explore the many options available and pinpoint the wisest investments. For any given schedule, there are usually two types of activities: those focused solely on production and others which boost your production capacity. The first subset of activities is strictly results-oriented; pouring time into them is intended to produce tangible results. Such tasks are highly reminiscent of your job, which sacrifices time to yield valuable goods and services. Conversely, activities which boost your production capacity are like investments in a bank; the more you invest in them, the higher your yields become in future endeavors. The governing idea behind these tasks is to promote efficiency and effectiveness; they essentially enhance the machine which produces results. For example, if you are a physical laborer, activities which boost production capacity might involve strength conditioning and training- such as consistent weight lifting and running. With enough time invested in these activities, you will inevitably be able to perform the same tasks both in a shorter amount of time and at a higher quality.
|
As you can imagine, the key to realizing your dreams is to always invest in productivity-boosting activities. After all, the doors leading to a better life will remain locked until we learn to rise above our current standards, and that is only accomplished by living both more effectively and efficiently. Unfortunately, although critical for this progress, activities which boost production capacity are both challenging to maintain and not as urgent as other, more pressing concerns. They have no immediate consequences associated with them, and, thus, it is extremely difficult to naturally motivate their execution. Instead, most people are intrinsically motivated to fuel productivity-centered activities - which are both important and urgent. These activities are directly correlated with immediate results, such as a raise at work and a salary to survive. As a result, evolutionary pressure naturally compels us to pour time and energy into these tasks; their clear connection to results and a means of survival inspires action. However, while such activities may successfully perpetuate your current lifestyle, they also promote stagnance and offer little opportunity for advancement. All intent is focused on production - as opposed to the capacity to produce; thus, your rate of production will remain constant, making it hard to progress in life.

As you embark on your journey, always respect your time and invest it wisely. Make time for activities which boost your production capacity, and the cumulative investments will gradually yield the life you want to live. Remember that you have one of two choices; you may throw away your time to perpetuate your current life, or you can use it to elevate your consciousness. If you are reading this, you have already decided that the first choice leads to a life of discontent and malaise; so, have the standard to fuel the path that leads to renewed life and vibrance. Respect your time, and it will eventually give you what you seek. |
So, if you want to get ahead in life, you must always invest in activities which boost production capacity. You must strive to make the time for these tasks, even when you can not find it. Initially, it will be extremely difficult to adopt this mindset. After all, we are all inclined to maximize profit with production-focused activities, and this inclination leaves little room for boosting production capacity. However, if you buy into your intent so much that it fuels a marvelous fire behind your eyes, you will find a way to invest in these activities; neglect and laziness will have no home in your vocabulary. So, as you embark on your journey, always respect your time and invest it wisely. Make time for activities which boost your production capacity, and the cumulative investments will gradually yield the life you want to live.
